Meeting Recap: August 26, 2010

Second Chances

This month’s speech marathon was led by Toastmaster Gwen Vass. The room was packed with 31 people, including four guests. In place of the typical agenda and roles was a meeting packed with five speeches and evaluations. Trey Bason kept the meeting on time in his role as timekeeper.

Tanya Hunte gave her second speech from the competent communicator manual, “Developing Future Leaders.” Tanya practiced for an upcoming presentation for Future Leaders Sig.

Lorenzo King gave his speech, “Renew and Think2” in which he shared his experiences of discontinuing the use of pharmaceutical medications.

Tom Beaulieu gave his speech “Progress vs. Mother Nature” and shared some alarming statistics about coal consumption in the world.

Wade Hudson delivered “The Great Escape” with humor and demonstrated how tube socks can make all the different at the right place and time.

Brian Simpson concluded the prepared speeches with “What do you expect?” Brian entertained while explaining how PEP (Planning, Expectation and Punch) make all the different in public speaking.

Vernita Giffith, Alyssa Mozingo, Kelly Lingerfelt, Martin Rock and Chuck Roylston evaluated the speakers respectively.

Awards went to:

Best Evaluator: Chuck Roylston
Best Speaker: Brian Simpson
